There are a lot of different tools that you can use for video editing, however most of them are either too complicated to use or don’t have enough functions that will alow you to add interesting details that will make your video look awesome.
In the last few years I’ve been playing with a few different video editing tools and here I will talk about the tools that work best for me.
Camtasia Studio
Camtasia helps you capture video (recorded from your computer screen) and audio (from the microphone) and is probably the best tool to use if you want to create screencasts or similar type videos. This software can also help you with the video production and editing, you can add different effects like annotations, transitions and callouts.
Camtasia has a lot of other features that I won’t bother explaining in this article, since I think that it is best to try the software yourself (they give you a 30 day trial)
Adobe Premiere
If photoshop is the best picture editing software then Adobe Premiere takes the same position in the video editing category.
When I first started with video editing, I used Windows Movie Maker, then I started using Vegas Pro (which is also pretty good and a bit easier to use) but finally moved and settled with Adobe Premiere since it really allowed me to play around with more functions and do things that made our parkour videos AWESOME.
Adobe Premiere also has a 30 day free trial so I suggest that you download it and play around with the functions, maybe watch some tutorials on youtube and learn the basics of video editing.
There are other good tools out there, but I won’t spend much time on listing them here because these two will probably do everything you will ever need. If you are running on MacOS then you should also try Final Cut Pro as a substitute for Adobe Premiere or Screen Flow as a substitute for Camtasia.
